3 Best Golf Wedges for Women
Choosing the right wedge is important for any golfer. It is the perfect tool to get you out of the hazards and onto the greens or give you those accurate shots for clutch situations with your short game.
Men and women may be equal skill wise but our physical build is quite different. Generally, the difference would only be on height, swing, and handicap. So, if you are on the taller side, you can opt to use a man’s club.
But on average, women are usually shorter than men so manufacturers choose to produce shorter clubs designed specifically for women.

Cleveland RTX 3 Ladies Wedge
- Plenty of grind options
- Feel Balancing Technology
- V-Shaped Sole Grinds
- Rotex Face
Plenty of Grind Options
Cleveland RTX 3 is actually quite customizable. You have the option to choose between a low grind bounce to full sole grind.
Feel Balancing Technology
Cleveland uses what they call Feel Balancing Technology. This technology places the CG or center of gravity closer to the middle of the face. As a result, the closer you hit the ball to the center of gravity, the lesser the impact and twist. This will give you more control of the ball’s spin and direction.
The V-Shaped grinds will give more precise shots. It is a bit narrower than most which make it more versatile. This allows the ball to go through the turf easily and have a consistent spin or impact.
The face features deeper and narrower grooves. The laser milled strokes before and in between the grooves will give you improved grip.
Cleveland RTX 588 Women’s Wedge
- Rotex Face
- Bounce Options
- Customizable Finish
The face has a rougher finished compared to other clubs. This ensures that it can create more spin than clubs that have smoother faces. It also features wider grooves that will help generate better spins. It is also designed to maximize shots on sand or wet environments.
You have the option to choose how much bounce you want. You can choose from low to high bounce. They can be identified through the number of dots on the sole or mark on the hosel.
Choose between black satin or satin chrome finish.
Callaway Mack Daddy 4 Women’s Wedge
- Groove-in-Groove Technology
- Higher Bounce
Most of the manufacturers nowadays have made the surface of the face rougher. But, unlike most designs where the grooves in between the millings are recessed, Callaway has done the opposite. The lines are protruding which creates a rougher surface, in turn, generating more spin.
The Mack Daddy 4 is quite versatile. It has over 12 degrees of bounce in a much wider area. So, it is quite forgiving to golfing beginners.
Titleist Vokey SM 7 Wedge
- An array of grind options
- Center of Gravity
- Precise Spin Milling
An Array of Grind Options
When you decide to buy a wedge from Vokey, be prepared for the wide array of grind options. This enables you to choose the right wedge for your skill level and swing. The wedges have a wider sole as well.
Center of Gravity
Vokey has made changes on the alignment of the center of gravity. For wedges that have high lofts, the center of gravity is placed higher while for low lofts, the center of gravity is lower.
Precise Spin Milling
The face has spin-milled grooves that are plated compared to the raw finish of most wedges. This results in more precise cuts which increase the number of spins.
Q&A Section for Buying a Golf Wedge
Is custom fitting for wedges available?
Most golfers won’t think about fitting when buying wedges, but definitely yes, it is available. You have the option to choose the length of the shaft, bounce angle, and lie angle.
You will also be asked about the spin and the finish of your wedge. Oftentimes, people would just go to a golf store and randomly pick out a wedge. However, picking the right wedge can definitely level up your game.
How many wedges should I have in my bag?
It would depend on your skill level. Most skilled players will only need to use fewer wedges mainly because they can create different shots using the same wedge. However, if you are still starting out, try to determine the maximum and the minimum gap of your yard. This will help you establish how many you will need.
What is a bounce angle?
The bounce is the area is the point where the sole and leading edge meet the turf or the ground. It was created to stop the wedge from digging into turf or sand which results in ending the momentum of the swing from the club to the ball.
When do I replace my wedges?
It would definitely vary. Playing conditions and frequency of use are factors that affect the wear and tear of your wedge. Replace it when you are not able to do the shots you usually could with your wedge.
The more you practice or play in heavily sanded turf, the faster the wear and tear of the wedge will be. However, if you do not use it often, you can at least expect to use it for 2 years before you need to replace it.
How do I choose the right wedge for me?
Determine the options that you have. Check out the type of grind and bounce you will need when you play on the course where you mostly do your practice.
Establish the shots you have to take and the misses you made. After that, you’ll be able to determine the kind of wedges you will need. Once you have established all that, it’s time to get a fit.
