Garmin Approach G30 Review

You’ve probably heard of Garmin before as they are considered the leader in the GPS space, creating watches, rangefinders, and GPS handhelds.

The watch line gets the “S” in front of the numbers like their S20 and S60 golf watches. But with handhelds they’ll use the letter “G” like the Approach G30.

In this first review, we recommend the Garmin Approach G30 because it is super compact while offering a bright, 2.3 inch display that features color and touchscreen.

The GPS is high sensitivity to quickly connect with satellites orbiting earth, communicating back distances on the display screen. Distances can include center of the green, front of the green, and back of the green. But that’s not all.

The Approach G30 also tells you accurate yardages to hazards like bunkers, water, etc.

The Garmin Approach G30 also comes preloaded with over 40,000 golf courses worldwide. Each course comes with full color mapping of what that course layout and hole design looks like in real life thanks to detailed satellite imaging.

It also offers a super useful feature called Touch Targeting. It allows you to manually press on the screen in different locations to learn the accurate yardage between your current location and the point you touched.

This allows you to find quickly how far to carry hazards like water or lay up before hazards if you don’t have a great lie to carry.

Lastly, let’s not forget the Approach G30’s Green View feature which let’s you manually place the flagstick in the exact spot on the display that you see it in real life. This then auto updates distances so you can play the proper golf shot.

So how much is the Garmin Approach G30 Handheld GPS going to cost you? Prices change so we’ve linked to Amazon where you can see the current price and see reviews from others.
